The VOP0180 ceiling support is designed for versatile installation and works with flat, cathedral, or sloped ceilings. The square design allows for proper framing regardless of ceiling pitch, and the support maintains the required 1-inch clearance to combustible materials in all configurations. This makes it suitable for a wide range of residential applications where vertical pellet vent installations are needed.

This ceiling support box is engineered to safely support up to 40 feet of Vortex pellet venting system. This substantial load capacity ensures that even extended vertical installations from ground floor to roof termination can be properly supported at the ceiling penetration point. The included support clamp and trim collar work together to distribute the weight evenly across the ceiling framing.

The VOP0180 ceiling support package includes the square support box, a trim collar for a finished appearance at the ceiling level, and a support clamp to secure the venting pipe within the box. Wood screws for mounting to ceiling joists are also supplied. These components provide everything needed for the ceiling penetration portion of your pellet vent installation.

The Vortex ceiling support maintains a 1-inch clearance to combustible materials, which is compliant with both USA and Canadian safety standards for pellet venting systems. This clearance must be maintained around the entire perimeter of the square opening when framing the ceiling penetration. The support box is designed to ensure this clearance is properly maintained throughout the installation.

Installation involves cutting and framing a square opening in the ceiling according to the manufacturer's specifications. The support box is inserted from above and secured to the ceiling framing through pre-drilled holes using the supplied wood screws. A plumb bob should be used to align the opening with the appliance outlet below. The trim collar installs on the ceiling's underside for a finished look, while the support clamp secures the vent pipe from above.

The VOP0180 is specifically designed for use with Vortex 3-inch pellet vent pipe systems and should not be mixed with components from other manufacturers. Different pellet vent brands use varying joint systems, materials, and dimensional specifications. Using components from different manufacturers can compromise the safety and integrity of your venting system and may void warranties and safety certifications.

The Vortex 3" ceiling support is listed to UL 641 (Standard for Type L Low-Temperature Venting Systems) and meets CSA B365 requirements (Installation Code for Solid-Fuel-Burning Appliances). These certifications ensure the support meets rigorous North American safety standards for pellet stove venting installations. The product also complies with NFPA 211 requirements for safe chimney and venting system installations.

The ceiling support itself requires minimal maintenance beyond periodic visual inspection to ensure mounting screws remain tight and the support box shows no signs of deterioration or damage. During annual pellet vent system cleaning and inspection, check that the support clamp remains properly tightened and that clearances to combustible materials have been maintained. Any debris or insulation that may have come into contact with the support box should be removed to maintain proper clearances.
