How many elbows can I use?
Two 90 degree elbows is the normal maximum in a connector run. Every bend costs draft, so keep the path as straight as the room allows.
Do the elbows lock at a fixed angle?
No, both adjust. You set the angle during assembly and secure it, which is what lets you clear a joist without reframing.
Does an elbow reduce my maximum run length?
Effectively yes. Elbows add resistance, so if your run is already near the 8 to 10 foot limit, adding bends can weaken the draft.
What is the difference between DVL and single wall DuraBlack?
Clearance and price. DVL needs only 6" to a combustible wall where single wall needs 18", and its stainless inner wall drafts better and builds less creosote. DuraBlack costs less and is the economical choice when you have the room.
Can this pass through a wall or ceiling?
No. Connector pipe of any kind stops at the ceiling or wall. To pass through the building you need Class A chimney, and the two join with a chimney adaptor at the ceiling support box or wall thimble.
How do I connect this to my stove?
Use the DVL stove adaptor (6DVL-AD), which fits the stove's flue collar and gives the pipe a proper mechanical connection. For a rear-exit stove use the tee with cover (6DVL-T) instead.
How much connector pipe can I run?
Most stove manuals cap the total connector run at 8 to 10 feet with no more than two 90 degree elbows, and any horizontal section must rise at least 1/4" per foot toward the chimney.
