What size flue pipe does the US1800E require?

The flue collar is designed to accept 6" flue pipe, and venting is required for installation. The vent is located at the rear of the insert, and the flue location cannot be converted from rear to top or vice versa.

Why is the advertised BTU different from the BTU output listed in the manual?

The BTU output in the owner's manual is calculated under specific test conditions during EPA certification, which do not reflect normal everyday usage. The advertised BTU rating is based on the maximum BTU input achievable in that particular stove.

Does the US1800E require electricity to work?

No. The insert is designed to radiate heat without power, making it a reliable backup heat source during outages. However, the included high-speed blower does require electricity to operate. The stove can be burned safely without the blower if desired.

What is included in the box?

Can I add a flue damper to the chimney pipe?

Why won't my wood stay lit unless the door is open?

Wood quality also matters — wood should be properly seasoned with a moisture content between 15% and 20%, split before measuring for an accurate reading.

Do I need a fresh air kit?
